Vibrio cholerae is a comma-shaped, Gram-negative bacterium responsible for cholera in humans, a disease that affects the upper portion of the small intestine. Transmission occurs primarily through contaminated food or water. Individuals infected with cholera experience intense watery diarrhea and vomiting, caused by the cholera toxin produced by the bacteria. Many cases can be severe and potentially fatal, as diarrhea and vomiting can lead rapidly to dehydration and electrolyte loss. Outbreaks and pandemics associated with Vibrio cholerae demonstrate that cholera still represents a global threat to public health.

The Bioperfectus Vibrio cholerae Real-Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test based on real-time PCR technology, developed for the detection of Vibrio cholerae O1, Vibrio cholerae O139, and Vibrio cholerae DNA.

Features

  • Prevention and control: Applicable to multiple sample types, ideal for surveillance and early detection

  • Multiplex PCR: Detects and differentiates V. cholerae O1, V. cholerae O139, and V. cholerae (general)

  • High reliability: Limit of detection of 5 copies/reaction, with internal control

  • High efficiency: Processes 96 samples in 62 minutes

  • User-friendly: Automatic interpretation of results with the STC real-time PCR system
