Introduction

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is the causative pathogen of Mycoplasma pneumonia. The onset of infection is usually slow, presenting symptoms such as anorexia, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, headache, fever, and muscle aches.

Transmission occurs mainly through respiratory droplets, with an incubation period of 2 to 3 weeks. Adolescents constitute a high-risk population. Cases can occur throughout the year but are more frequent in autumn and winter.

Current laboratory diagnostic methods include isolation, culture and identification, serological tests, and molecular biology detection.

The BioPerfectus Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Real-Time PCR Kit is an In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) reagent based on fluorescent PCR, intended for the qualitative detection of Mycoplasma pneumoniae in upper and lower respiratory tract samples, including throat swabs and sputum.
