Monkeypox Virus (MPXV) Rapid Real-Time PCR Kit
Introduction
Monkeypox virus is a double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the Poxviridae family, the same as the variola virus. Humans are primarily infected with the monkeypox virus through bites from infected animals or direct contact with blood, body fluids, and lesion exudate from infected animals. The virus is often transmitted from animals to humans and, occasionally, from humans to humans.
The main clinical manifestations include high fever, headache, back pain, general malaise, cough, and lymphadenectasia, with generalized skin rashes similar to smallpox and, occasionally, abdominal pain. Monkeypox is a self-limiting disease, with symptoms usually lasting from 2 to 4 weeks. The case fatality rate varies from 0% to 11% in the general population and, recently, from about 3% to 6% in children.
The Bioperfectus Monkeypox Virus (MPXV) Rapid Real-Time PCR Kit utilizes real-time PCR techniques and hydrolysis probes to perform qualitative detection of nucleic acids from one or more pathogens in a single reaction tube. The kit is intended for the qualitative detection of monkeypox virus nucleic acids in human samples such as tonsillar swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs, serum, whole blood, lesion exudate, and crusts.
