For Research Use Only (RUO)

Introduction

The Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Real-Time PCR Kit (RUO) is intended for the in vitro quantitative detection of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA in serum and plasma samples. It is primarily used for the detection of the most common HCV genotypes (1 to 6) in patients with suspected HCV infection and in Hepatitis C patients undergoing antiviral treatment.

HCV is the causative agent of human Hepatitis C, belonging to the Hepacivirus genus of the Flaviviridae family. The main sources of HCV infection are blood and blood products. Persistent infection is often asymptomatic, and approximately 80% of chronic infections can progress to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Thus, HCV represents a significant threat to human health.

The amount of viral RNA is a direct indicator of HCV replication and infectivity. A high viral load in patients under treatment suggests therapeutic inefficacy, often requiring a longer treatment period. Therefore, quantitative detection of HCV RNA in the blood is essential, as it reduces the risk of HCV transmission via blood transfusion and assists in prognosis and the selection of appropriate treatment.

This kit utilizes the quantitative fluorescent PCR technique to detect HCV RNA, providing direct evidence for the diagnosis of HCV infection and assisting in the evaluation of antiviral treatment efficacy.
