Introduction

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) is a widespread disease caused by a tick-borne virus (Nairovirus) belonging to the Bunyaviridae family.

CCHF is endemic in Africa, the Balkans, the Middle East, and Asian countries south of the 50th parallel north — the geographical limit of the principal tick vector. The virus is transmitted to humans through tick bites or through contact with infected animal blood or tissues during and immediately after slaughter.

Currently, the CCHF virus is considered one of the most lethal, with a fatality rate between 10% and 40%. In severe cases, patients may present with epistaxis, hematemesis, hematuria, proteinuria, and even shock.

Laboratory diagnostic methods include viral isolation, serological tests, and nucleic acid detection tests.

The Bioperfectus Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus Real-Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test, based on real-time PCR, for the qualitative detection of CCHF virus RNA. Samples can be obtained from human serum and plasma.
