Coxsackieviruses belong to the Picornaviridae family, Enterovirus genus, and are a group of human enteroviruses. They are positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses, protected by an icosahedral capsid formed exclusively by proteins. They are divided into two subgroups:
Coxsackievirus A: 23 serotypes (1–24, except 23)
Coxsackievirus B: 6 serotypes (1–6)
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is an acute infectious disease caused by enteroviruses, occurring primarily in preschool-aged children, especially those under 5 years old. Symptoms include maculopapular rash and herpetic lesions on the hands, feet, and mouth. In some cases, it can progress to meningitis, encephalitis, encephalomyelitis, pulmonary edema, and circulatory disorders.
Although HFMD is frequently caused by CoxA16 and EV71, Coxsackievirus A6 and A10 are also associated with disease outbreaks. The main causes of death include brainstem encephalitis and neurogenic pulmonary edema. Transmission occurs primarily through gastrointestinal and respiratory routes, and by close contact.
This kit is intended for the in vitro qualitative detection of Coxsackievirus A6 (CA6) and Coxsackievirus A10 (CA10) nucleic acids in throat swab samples from infants and children.
Dual Detection: Simultaneous detection of CA6 and CA10 in a single test
High Specificity: No cross-reactivity with other similar pathogens
Reliable: Internal control monitors collection, transport, and extraction to prevent false negatives
