Anthrax is a rare but serious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis. Bacillus anthracis is a Gram-positive, rod-shaped bacterium that causes anthrax—a lethal disease for livestock and, occasionally, for humans. It is the only permanent pathogen within the Bacillus genus.
Humans generally acquire the disease directly or indirectly from infected animals, or through occupational exposure to infected or contaminated animal products. Globally, the estimated incidence of human anthrax decreased from approximately 20,000 to 100,000 cases per year in 1958 to about 2,000 cases per year during the 1980s.
Anthrax symptoms vary depending on the type of infection and can appear between 1 day and more than 2 months after exposure. All types of anthrax have the potential, if left untreated, to spread throughout the body, causing severe illness and even death.
The Bacillus anthracis Real Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test, based on real-time PCR technology, intended for the detection of Bacillus anthracis DNA. Samples can be obtained from human blood.
Quality Control: internal control ensures the reliability of the entire process
No cross-reactivity with other viruses causing similar symptoms
Compatibility: Compatible with leading real-time PCR instruments.
