Introduction

Astroviruses are a type of virus that cause diarrheal diseases (gastroenteritis). Infants and young children are most likely to experience diarrhea caused by astroviruses, but infection can also occur in the elderly and in immunocompromised individuals. Although mild diarrhea is the primary symptom, infected individuals may also present with other common symptoms of gastroenteritis, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, body aches, and fever.

The BioPerfectus Astrovirus Real-Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test based on real-time PCR technology for the detection of Astrovirus RNA. Samples can be obtained from human feces.
