Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is a major cause of viral central nervous system infections in eastern, central, northern, and increasingly western European countries, as well as northern China, Mongolia, and the Russian Federation. The tick-borne encephalitis virus belongs to the Flaviviridae family.
The vast majority of infections with the virus occur through the bite of infected ticks, which often remain attached to the skin for several days. On rare occasions, infection can occur through the consumption of unpasteurized milk from infected goats, sheep, or cows. People come into contact with ticks during outdoor activities in forested areas, at altitudes up to about 2000 meters. There is no direct person-to-person transmission.
The Bioperfectus Tick-Borne Encephalitis Virus Real-Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test, based on real-time PCR technology, for the detection of TBEV RNA. Samples can be obtained from human serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
No cross-reactivity with other pathogens
Reliable: Internal control ensures reliability throughout the entire process
