Rickettsia typhi is a small, rod-shaped, aerobic, obligate intracellular Gram-negative bacterium. It belongs to the typhus group of the Rickettsia genus, along with R. prowazekii. Like all rickettsial organisms, R. typhi is a zoonotic agent that causes murine typhus, presenting with mild and non-specific symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle pain, and rash.
There are two transmission cycles of R. typhi from animal reservoirs to humans:
Classic rat-flea-rat cycle: The most studied and common cycle
Secondary peridomestic cycle: Which may involve cats, dogs, opossums, sheep, and their fleas.
The BioPerfectus Rickettsia typhi Real-Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test, based on real-time PCR technology, for the detection of Rickettsia typhi DNA. Samples can be obtained from human blood.
Internal control ensures the reliability of the entire process
Smart: Automatic interpretation of results with the STC Real-Time PCR system
Compatible: Compatible with several conventional PCR instruments
No cross-reactivity with other pathogens
