Introduction

Plague is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, a zoonotic bacterium usually found in small mammals and their fleas. Transmission between animals occurs through fleas.

Plague is an extremely serious disease in humans, especially in the septicemic and pneumonic forms, with a case fatality rate ranging from 30% to 100% when left untreated.

People infected with plague usually develop an acute febrile illness after an incubation period of one to seven days, accompanied by other non-specific systemic symptoms such as sudden onset of fever, chills, headache and body aches, weakness, vomiting, and nausea. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment are essential for survival and the reduction of complications.

The BioPerfectus Yersinia Pestis Real Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test, based on real-time PCR technology, intended for the qualitative detection of Yersinia pestis DNA. Samples can be obtained from human serum and lymph node puncture fluid.
